CHINESE MID AUTUMN MOON FESTIVAL OPERA

On Friday the 2nd September the Chinese Activity and Opera group celebrated the Mid Autumn Moon Festival at the Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre where over 130 people were in attendance.
To the Chinese, Mid-Autumn Festival means family reunion and peace. The festival is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest. To the Chinese, a full moon is a symbol of prosperity, happiness, and family reunion.
The KCAC Chinese Activity group performed a traditional Chinese Opera to celebrate this event. CEO of KCAC Anne Farah-Hill opened the event. Special Guest Mr Mark Coure, (Member for Oatley) joined us on the day to speak at the event and special guest Councillor Nancy Liu (from the former Hurstville Council) also spoke about the importance of this event in the Chinese calendar. Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre would like to thank Mark Coure and Nancy Liu for joining us and thank you also to Sandra Wong for organising this great event.
